Use ingrown hair home remedies to get rid of ingrown hair bumps and prevent future occurences. Ingrown facial hair is often a problem for men who shave daily.

Aloe Vera Home Remedies Ingrown hair on the face, neck, and legs is usually caused by shaving too close. Double and triple bladed razors are great for a close shave but the problem is they are apt to nick the top of the hair follicle which forces the hair to grow at an angle instead of out. People with curly hair also can have the problem of hair growing out of the hair follicle and curving around and re-entering the skin.

Sometimes the ingrown hair becomes infected and makes ingrown hair bumps that are red. Shaving over the bumps just makes the problem worse.

Clothing rubbing on the skin increases the likelihood of ingrown hairs. This is particularly true for men wearing shirts with tight fitting collars.

  • Do not stretch the skin in order to get a closer shave.

  • Apply witch hazel to the skin after shaving to reduce ingrown hair bumps. Witch hazel is an antiseptic and it is cheap.

  • If you have a lot of ingrown hairs on your face or neck, try not shaving at all for a day or two. Then use the above techniques.

  • Exfoliating before shaving can also help. You can make your own exfoliating soap by adding some sugar to a small amount of liquid hand soap. Rub it on the area to be shaved and rinse thoroughly.

  • If you have curly hair, you may have to remove the ingrown hairs with tweezers. Use a magnifying mirror and see if you can see the hair loop near the follicle that is not ingrown. Dab the area with rubbing alcohol and sanitize the tweezers as well then pluck the hair.

  • Try using a hair removal cream instead of shaving at least until the problem is under control.
