Benefits of Green Tea Dieting

Drinking green tea for fat loss is an easy way to enhance any weight loss program. One of the benefits of green tea for dieting is increased metabolism.

So, do you have to exercise for green tea to help you lose weight?

A Japanese study came to the conclusion that "Daily consumption of tea containing 690 mg catechins for 12 wk reduced body fat, which suggests that the ingestion of catechins might be useful in the prevention and improvement of lifestyle-related diseases, mainly obesity." Studies have also shown that people who drink green tea regularly are more able to maintain their weight loss. Gaining back the weight lost on a diet is very discouraging and is difficult to avoid. But just continuing to drink green tea after reaching the goal weight can help maintain your new slimness.

So how much green tea should you drink? Three to four cups of freshly brewed tea seems to be enough to do the trick. Green tea does contain caffeine so it is best to avoid drinking it just before bedtime if caffeine keeps you awake. Drinking more than six cups a day is probably not going to give you additional benefit.

Freshly brewed green tea has been shown to give better results than commercial green tea drinks. Fresh brew is also better than taking green tea diet supplements. There are green tea diet supplements available that contain green tea but they contain other substances as well and some of these may not be good for you. Always read the labels on supplements. Never take anything containing ephedra which has proven to be unsafe.

Do not expect green tea to give you immediate results. Drinking green tea for a couple of weeks is not long enough to know if it is working for you. However, after two or three months you should be able to see a difference in both size and weight.
