An acne scar skin care regime will help fade those red or brown patches caused by acne faster than just letting time do its thing. You may have what you need to get rid of acne scars right in your kitchen.

Pigmented scars are those red or brown spots left after a pimple has healed. How frustrating it can be to get your acne under control and not have clear acne-free skin. The scars can disappear with time but who wants to wait weeks or months for this to happen?
The good news is that you can fade acne scars with just a simple acne scar skin care routine that removes the upper damaged layers of skin and encourages new skin growth underneath. Plus you don't have to spend a fortune on expensive treatments.
The problem with vitamin C in skin care products is that it is unstable in the presence of air. Once it is oxidized it is impossible for it to aid new collagen growth or eliminate damage caused by free radicals. In fact, it may even cause damage by encouraging free radical formation. Plus a skin care product would have to contain at least 10 % vitamin C to do any good.
The simple and inexpensive answer is fresh lemon juice. That's right! Simply the juice from a fresh lemon will give you all the vitamin C you need to encourage new collagen formation and eliminate damage. Not only that but when applied to an acne scar it will help the top layer of damaged skin to peel and that is what you want.
Now lemon juice can dry out your skin and this is not a good thing. You will need to follow up the lemon juice treatment with an oil and not just any oil. Luckily there are some oils that also help reduce scarring. My favorite is Rosehip Seed Oil. Rosehip Seed Oil is high in essential fatty acids and is a key ingredient in commercial anti aging and anti wrinkle creams. It is well known for reducing scars. You can order it online or put it on your shopping list for the next time you visit a drug store or health food store.
Other oils that aid scar reduction are vitamin E oil, Sea Buckthorn Oil, and Macadamia Nut Oil. If you decide to use vitamin E oil, just puncture the end of a vitamin E capsule with a sterilized pin and squeeze out the oil. You may already have Macadamia Nut Oil if you are using it for cooking. Sea Buckthorn Oil is not so readily available but it can be ordered on line.
You will also need a good sunscreen cream. Use the one that you normally use. Vitamin C increases the skin's sun sensitivity and you will burn more easily in those spots you are treating with lemon juice.
Some people are extra sensitive to lemon juice. It is best to try this on just one small area first to see how your skin reacts. You can also use fresh orange juice, fresh lime juice, or fresh grapefuit juice. I recommend lemon juice because lemons are less expensive.
You don't need to use a whole lemon every time you do this treatment. Cut off a piece of lemon and use the juice from it. Then place plastic wrap tightly over the unused portion and put it into the refrigerator for use later.
If you don't want to do the fourteen-day routine, here is another option for acne scar skin care. Aloe Vera gel is also good for fading scars. I recommend using the gel straight out of the plant itself. Just break off a leaf and squeeze out the gel. Apply it to your acne scars two or three times a day. Commercial lotions and creams that contain aloe vera have varying quatities of the gel in them. If you decide to use one of these commercial products, look for one that has aloe vera listed in the first, second, or third ingredients so you know it contains enough of the gel to do you some good. Aloe Vera is also good for preventing new outbreaks and for healing those you already have.
